We have lived in our house for over 25 years. I have complained about having to us grass as the landscaping option. The family has heard ” If we would have settled this country from the west to east, grass would not be used for landscaping”. And of course our house is within a HOA boundry. The HOA was finally forced by the city to allow Zeriscaping. Only took 5 months and 3 revisions to get my plans approved.
